In the spirit of Django
What happens if you bring two dedicated gypsy musicians together? Guitarists Fapy Lafertin and Lollo Meier have made their respective marks as true ambassadors of the Django Reinhardt legacy, performing the master`s music in its most authentic way and beyond. With love, devotion and pure magic, Lafertin and Meier have held their audiences captive around the world. As distant cousins, these two musicians have now joined up to create even more wonderful moments in the spirit of Django, adding their own contemporary sound with sublime skills and relentless technique. To see them perform and play will be an experience hard to forget, a true pleasure for the senses!
Fapy Lafertin was born in Belgium into a Sinti family of musicians and learned to play multiple instruments as a child.
With various big bands and his own Lafertin Quintet, he helped gain worldwide recognition for Django`s Hot Club Jazz. He also played and recorded with many renowned (jazz) musicians like violinist Stephane Grappelli, founder of the legendary Quintette du Hot Club de France with guitarist Django Reinhardt.
Lollo Meier lives in the south of the Netherlands and spent most of his childhood travelling with his Sinti family. He`s a lyrical master on the guitar and often prefers to play less known Reinhardt compositions. His love and respect for Django`s legacy translates beautifully into his own music. Melody for Le QuecumBar has made it to the finale of the 2005 International Songwriting Competition with honorary mention and was chosen out of 15.000 entries. Lollo performs with his own quartet and can rely on a variety of international musicians to join him on stage. With Fapy Lafertin and Lollo Meier now sharing the spotlight, there`s no doubt Django`s Hot Club Jazz will exactly be that... Hot!!
